Claudia Winkleman, 46, returns to screens tonight to host Strictly Come Dancing alongside Tess Daly, 49. Mum-of-three Claudia is famed for her heavy fringe and love of black eyeliner – but an old photo on her Instagram account shows she used to look quite different. The picture was shared with her 389,000 followers back in 2014 – the year she was announced as host of Strictly alongside Tess Daly, replacing Bruce Forsyth, who stepped down that year. It shows Tess and Claudia larking about with a plate of biscuits, with both women wearing black outfits.
Claudia’s famous fringe is swept to the side, her hair tied up in a low bun with side parting.
Even though she is not looking directly at the camera, Claudia’s eye makeup is visible, and her favourite heavy eyeliner and dark eyeshadow is in evidence.
Tess also looks quite different – instead of her usual wavy hairstyle, she sports a slicked back updo.
Taking inspiration from her colleague, Tess also wears heavy black eyeliner and nude lipstick.
Last week’s show saw the women back to business, with Claudia wearing a leopard print dress and heavy fringe with her smoky eye makeup, and tess shimmering in rose gold sequins and a glamorous waved hairstyle.
Claudia is one of the highest earning stars on TV – for the last two years, the London-born star was the BBC’s highest-paid female, bringing in a staggering £450,000-£499,999 salary in 2016-2017.
The highest paid male on the list was Chris Evans, who earned £2.2 million a year – four times as much as the highest-paid woman, Claudia.
Due to media scrutiny over the BBC’s “talent list”, Claudia and other BBC talents took a pay cut, with her salary dropping to £370,000-£379,999 – still an impressive amount.
According to CelebrityNetWorth.com, Claudia now has a whopping net worth of around $12 million (£9 million).
The majority of her income is from her role as presenter on Strictly Come Dancing, but she also hosts the BBC Radio 2 Show, Claudia on Sunday.
Bumping up her income, Claudia also reportedly receives £75,000 for her Sunday Times Style Magazine column.
Putting her substantial earnings to good use, Claudia lives in the highly-sought after area of Bayswater in London.
The 46-year-old lives with her film producer husband, Kris Thykier, and their three children Jake, 14, Matilda, eight and Arthur, six.
But Claudia has worked hard for her big paycheque, starting her career almost 30 years ago when she presented on the regional discussion programme, Central Weekend.
