EPL: Aubameyang’s winner against Watford hailed as ‘Goal of the Season’

Former Aston Villa and player, Dean Saunders, has claimed that Pierre-Emerick scored the goal of the season in ’s 1-0 win over .

The Gabon striker sealed a vital victory for Unai Emery’s side by capitalising on a mistake from Ben Foster in the first half at Vicarage Road.

Foster took too long to clear the ball and was able to close down the goalkeeper, whose clearance cannoned off the striker to flew into the net.

Saunders insists the Arsenal striker’s goal was even better than Mohamed Salah’s long-range effort in ’s 2-0 win over Chelsea.

“Aubameyang’s goal, for me, this is going to sound stupid, is the goal of the season for me.

“You look at Salah’s goal and you think, ‘how can that be better?’.

“Aubameyang has chased a lost cause, which is a goal he’s got out of nothing, closed down Ben Foster and turned it into a goal.

“A spectacular goal for me, being a striker and coaching strikers, I enjoyed that goal more than Salah’s goal.

“Because he turned a backpass, he didn’t have to do it, effort and determination, if Aubameyang like a lot of strikers didn’t chase him he [Foster] plants it forward. He’s made a goal out of absolutely nothing and won them the game,” Saunders told talkSPORT.
