Completesportsnigeria.com rates the performance of Super Falcons players in their energy-sapping semi-final win against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroun at the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Ghana.
Tochuku Oluehi 8/10
Faced her first big test of the competition and came out in flying colours. The Rivers Angels goalkeeper also saved one of the Cameroonians four spot kicks.
Josephine Chukwunonye 7/10
Worked tirelessly to ward off the threat of the Cameroonians who attacked the Super Falcons defence at will in the game.
Onome Ebi 8/10
Capped a superb performance with a sublime penalty. Ebi marshaled the Super Falcons’ defence like a trojan and was one of the reasons Nigeria didn’t concede a goal in regulation time despite the Cameroonians dominating the game for long spells.
Osinachi Ohale 8/10
Continued her near perfect understanding with Onome Ebi at the heart of the Super Falcons defence.
Ebere Obi 7/10
Had a torrid time coping with the Cameroonians but managed to hold her own. She will do well to improve on her final balls for the Falcons.
Halimatu Ayinde 8/10
Kept improving with every game. Ayinde stood up to the more physical Cameroonians in the middle of the park.
Rita Chikwelu 7/10
Started the game slowly, but improved afterwards. The midfielder played a part in moving the team forward and won lot of tackles too.
Ngozi Okobi 5/10
Had a poor game by her standard. Okobi failed to hit the height set in previous games and was duly substituted in the second half.
Francisca Ordega 5/10
A below par performance from the winger, who struggled to cope with the pace of the game. She was replaced by Ana Imo late in the game.
Asisat Oshoala 8/10
Arguably the Super Falcons’ best performer on the night. She was behind most of Nigeria’s positive moves in the game and also helped the defence as well.
Desire Oparanozie 6/10
Didn’t have enough supply from the midfield but worked hard before she was substituted due to injury.
Substitutes
Rasheedat Ajibade 5/10
Ajibade didn’t influence the Falcons’ game much following her introduction. She however took her penalty expertly.
Ana Imo 5/10
Made a couple impressive runs following her introduction but soon fizzled out.
Amarachi Okoronkwo 3/10
Came in for the injured Desire Oparanozie in extra time. Gave the ball away easily a couple of times in a below par showing.
