On this week’s episode of Smackdown Live, it was announced that Mysterio would take on Shinsuke Nakamura in a World Cup qualifier for Crown Jewel. This would be the first-ever meeting for these men. Nakamura’s United States Championship will not be on the line next week.
Mysterio recently signed a two-year deal to return to WWE with a clause that says he can opt-out after 18 months. The deal also stipulates that he will wrestle for limited dates because he wants time off to heal his body and to spend with his family as his son Dominik trains to become a professional wrestler.
Several former WWE stars returning next week
Next week’s Smackdown 1000 will also feature the return of several former WWE stars. Names confirmed for next week include Evolution (Triple H, Ric Flair, Batista, and Randy Orton), Edge, The Undertaker, Kane, Michelle McCool, Vickie Guerrero, and Teddy Long.
It will be interesting to see if something goes down between Kane, Taker, and Triple H (and maybe Shawn Michaels) on next week’s show since they will all be in the arena.
