Melania Trump wears red trousers and matching flat shoes at American Red Cross event

Melania Trump, 48, was pictured attending an event at The American Red Cross National Headquarters today, alongside US Second Lady Karen Pence, 61.

The US First Lady had arrived in order to help assemble care packages for US troops stationed abroad for the holidays.

In snaps from the event, the former model was pictured delivering a speech.

Another photo saw Melania – who married President Donald Trump, 72, back in 2005 – waving at an audience before her.

The First Lady has become something of a style icon for fans across the world over the years.

For her public appearance today, Melania opted for a relatively relaxed-looking ensemble.

She sported a pair of vibrant red cigarette-style trousers, as well as a navy blue jumper.

The garment featured a high neck, as well as red and white stripes at the neckline.

Melania is usually seen wearing high heels during her public outings as the First Lady, but today, she decided to don flat shoes.

Clearly keeping to a theme, the mother-of-one wore bright red ballet pumps.

She let her sleek locks cascade in curls around her shoulders – with wisps of her hair framing her face.

Melania kept her make-up relatively simple – opting for dark eyeshadow, as well as a slick of rose pink lipstick.

In more captures, Melania could be seen grinning as she stood by a stand which had been set up in order to put the care packages together.

Following the event, the First Lady took to Twitter to share a glimpse at her day with her 11.2 million follows.

She captioned a series of photos of the event with the message: “As the holiday season begins, we remember all our brave men and women serving overseas.
