Everything you need to live well
Willow Smith, the 18-year old daughter of Hollywood power couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith has revealed in an episode of “Red Table Talk” dubbed “Learning To Forgive”, that it took her time to forgive her parents.
She made the revelation when her mother asked her who she needed to forgive.
“I definitely had to forgive you and daddy for that whole ‘Whip My Hair’ thing,” she confessed, which was a reference to her hit song when she was 10-years old.
Going further to open up at the red roundtable, which also included her grandmother, Adrienne Banfield Norris, and her uncle, Caleeb Pinkett, Willow got more specific.
“It was mostly daddy because he was so harsh at certain times. It was like a couple years, trying to regain trust for trying for not feeling like I wasn’t listened to or no one cared what I felt during that time.”
This isn’t the first time the “21st Century Girl” crooner is bringing up the subject as in a previous episode of “Red Table Talk”, she confessed to her mother that her seemingly overnight success wasn’t handled well.
“You and daddy should have been, ok, we value her musical growth and knowledge more than her popularity,” she revealed at the time, and then explained how she later rebelled by shaving her head.
Delving deeper into her emotions, the young singer admitted she also had to forgive herself in Monday’s new episode.
“Because I felt guilty because I was like, everyone is trying to make me better, trying to make my dream, but I didn’t really understand what my dream entailed.”
Just recently, Willow’s brother, Jaden Smith reaffirmed that he is dating rapper, Tyler, the Creator.
