WWE issues statement on the situation in Saudi Arabia

WWE is in a tough situation right now as the mainstream media coverage picks up on Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, who is believed to have been killed at the direction of the Saudi Arabia Crown Prince on Tuesday.

For those of you not keeping up the story, Khashoggi went into the Saudi consulate and never came back out. One theory being floated around is that he was killed in the consulate and then dismembered before his body was disposed of.

“We are currently monitoring the situation,” a WWE rep said in a statement sent out to media outlets.

WWE stands to make a lot of money during the 10-year relationship but things seem to be up in the air right now and there are no guarantees that the Crown Jewel show will take place as scheduled.

Several big names are being brought in to that show because of the money WWE is making from this deal. Brock Lesnar, Shawn Michaels, Kane, The Undertaker, and others are said to be making more money for Crown Jewel than they would for WrestleMania.

Obviously, if the show does not happen then it would force WWE to scramble and change their creative plans. If they decided to continue with the show then they could face a huge public relations nightmare.
